Economical Memory Management for Avionics Systems

چکیده

Unlike old-fashioned aircrafts that almost did not have avionics systems, up to date aircrafts have numerous avionics systems. Nearly all new aircrafts have devices for navigation, automatic flight control, collision avoidance systems, flight data recorder, weather radar system in addition to communication and monitoring systems. All of these devices employ embedded computer systems with growing memory requirements. To facilitate reduction of the electricity power required for these devices, detecting the portions of the computer memory that are currently not in use is suggested. The unused portions can be temporarily shut down and after that turn them on when they are required again. Such a power cut can greatly lower the electricity consumption of the aircraft's avionics devices.

Freedom from Interference for AUTOSAR-based ECUs: a partitioned AUTOSAR stack

AUTOSAR is a standard for the development of software for embedded devices, primarily created for the automotive domain. It specifies a software architecture with more than 80 software modules that provide services to one or more software components. With the trend towards integrating safety-relevant systems into embedded devices, conformance with standards such as ISO 26262 [ISO11] or ISO/IEC ...

Assessing the Safety of Integrity Level Partitioning in Software

In order to exploit the capability and performance of modern processors in safety critical applications, it is desirable to be able to run software of differing integrity levels on the same processor. To do this safely, however, requires the ability to enforce partitioning between these different integrity levels. For certification, there is a need to demonstrate the effectiveness of these part...

A New Approach to Memory Partitioning in On-Board Spacecraft Software

The current trend to use partitioned architectures in onboard spacecraft software requires applications running on the same computer platform to be isolated from each other both in the temporal and memory domains. Memory isolation techniques currently used in Integrated Modular Avionics for Aeronautics usually require a Memory Management Unit (MMU), which is not commonly available in the kind o...
